Monday fun day?

If you were lucky enough to have the day off today, thank your raycess forefathers.
I had the day off and I went snowboarding. Just like MLK would have wanted me to.
OK enough of the bad humor, but yes I was outside today. 2 degrees and windchill around -15. Add to the fact I have not been on my board since 2010/2011.  Throw in a neck surgery for good measure.
Oh and no one but me, myself and I.  Shook the rust off in 2 runs. I was pretty happy with my performance. Gradually working my way to the next larger slope and so on.   Time to bust out the go pro. Get some gnar footage of my awesome shredding. Except the camera came off 1 minute into the run. So cold the adhesive let go.   So I picked it up and did the in -hand cam.  Shoot, I had been doing fine, should be easy.  Apparently my concentration is so poor I cannot do two things at once. A little more than 3 minutes in I lose an edge and go down. First time all day. But because I am so concerned about the camera I fall a little different than I usually do. Basically putting all my weight on one hand.   My wrist is throbbing.  No worries. Put the camera in my pocket and get down the hill.  At this point I shrug it off. But 3 runs later I can feel the fatigue setting in. Getting sloppy, all too conscience of my aching wrist.   Well the last run becomes the last run as I get off to the side of a turn and slow up.   I turn to see a girl, unable to stop come right into me.  Knocks me over onto her and as instincts would have it, I stop my backwards fall with my hands. Which as you know are attached to the wrist.  Yep. That may be the end of my day. I hit the coffee shop. Asses the pain, not real swollen but I know if I go back out all I will worry about is not adding to the pain.  18 runs is all I got out of the day.  About 7 less than I was shooting for.
Well apparently I really use the left hand to do more than I thought.  Pulling my boots off is incredibly hard.  Taking my jacket off is hard, turning the steering wheel is painful (right hand is shifting).
I make it home and realize how exhausted I am. I will need a day off for my day off.  Seriously.  That was fun, I really need to do this more than every 20 months if I ever expect to get any better at this.   That and lose some weight and work on my cardio, oh and perhaps my mental sharpness too.

So much for being in Arizona to get warm.  Right now the temp in Tucson is 26, only 12 degrees warmer than here.  Gloat while I can, back in the mid 60s in a day or so...

Trying to get active.  Yep, did this a few years ago and lost 20+ pounds.  But since my neck issues a lot of that weight,  no all of it and then some has gone back on.

So Joel and I are in a little teaming to work out.  Call it competition or call it inspiration.  I am losing pounds and getting toned up (as well as cardio, but that might not happen until spring) and he is working on muscle mass.

Using a app called Fitocracy, we can track workouts, earn points etc you know stuff that helps make what is often boring a little more fun. Any one else join look us up and be our friends (or not).

We will see how this goes...

This warm weather makes me want to get on my bike!

Winter Break is over.  Time for Joel to head back to school.  Dropped him off at the airport at 7:15 and he was back in his dorm by 4 today.

Fun to have him home, sad to see him go but excited again for him to continue down that path.

Maybe visit  for spring training anyone?

Happy New Year

No headache, no hangover.  Good start to the year.  Ready for 2013.
