Friday

Wow going to be busy. Getting ready for a party always is. Clean the house, get the food, beverages etc. I also have to clean the garage, deck and mow the lawn.

We did get to go to Gloriosos last night for italians. Man I love that place the smells and sights of the deli area. RAWK!.

Good news?

Dad goes in for his final radiation treatment today. So far so good, next up, chemotherapy.

Tuesday Good news

I meant to get this out yesterday. Dad got his full body scan results back in the afternoon. No other cancer in his abdomen or bones. Finally some good news. Mom sounded relieved more than anyone. I think we all exhaled on that one.

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

Here I sit, Tuesday morning, not really wanting to start work in earnest.

We have a party this weekend, I am looking forward to but at the same time I am not. Hoping for nice weather to enjoy the outside, get my drink on - but I know I hate all the work behind it. Got a ton of groceries to get, house to clean, menu to make, yard work, etc etc.

Talked to Dad for some time yesterday, he's sounds pretty good. Washing a car! He even got a good 6 hrs of sleep. The steroids keep him pretty wired, hungry too. He told me he had to get the Jethro bowl for his cereal, the regular bowl was not going to do it.

He has not heard or told anyone of the full body scan results. I don't think he cares anymore and does not want to worry any one else. Jenny said he did not tell her anything either. Take it day by day.....

Baseball

Another Monday another night of softball/baseball. Mackenzie's team lost 8-14 but it sounds like they are getting better. I asked Mackenzie how she did:

"How did you do?"
"Good"
"Did you get any hits?"
"how many"
" I dunno"
"how many times did you get on base?"
"I dunno"
"did you score?"
"yea, I think so"

I saw my line of questioning was taking me no where so I went with, "did you have a good time?" "yea". Good that's all that matters.

Joel on the other hand played a close game, way too many errors on the team but enough hits and base running to get the win 12-11 over Fredonia.

JT went 1-3, 1 walk and 1 Run. Got robbed on a nice (if not lucky) catch by the right fielder who had to chase it down and sprawl at the line to catch it. Pitching was pretty good too, strikes out 4 in the 5th inning. Yep dropped 3rd strike, so he struck out the side with 4k's....I almost forgot a nice double play he had. Started the game in center (bfore moving to 3rd and then closing the pitching out). 1 down, 1 on first. Fly ball to center, makes the catch and fires to first to get the guy who did not tag up and had to go back to first for the double play.

Car Updates

Got my wheel back on, Thanks to Bob and the guys at Total Auto Body in Grafton, for the use of the press and other nice tools I just don't have the need to own. Ka Ching!

Saturday, I tore the interior out, wired up a new car stero and speakers. Took my sweet time and had the car back together for baseball last night. That thing is nice and lound and crisp and the ipod control rocks a ton better than the old unit. Just got to get to the final tuning and used to the head unit controls.

Let's see the weekend was pretty busy.

Megan had her baby Sunday. Saturday Emma had a 50th birthday party at Bagg End. Played vollyball, I hurt today. I had nothing to drink while there and still played volleyball.
I finished the civics hub project
cooked a chicken on the grill, beer can style.
I started the car stereo project, that was started, not finished. I really took my time. Almost too lazy about it.
It rained HARD on Sunday. The garden is looking pretty good, actually have tomatoes on the vine (ok they are small, but they are there). Scapes are growing on the garlic (good sign). I did not however keg the beer as intended. If I can get my work done today and get the car back together before the baseball game I might keg it. I wonder if I even have CO2....

Friday NIght Baseball

Fun game at Cascade last night. Looked very stormy and we got 5+ innings in before the lightning get to close and the rain started coming harder. Anyway it was one of the better games played. Joel went 1-1 with a walk and a double. Crunched the first pitch over the leftfielders head for a nice double. That has to be a confidence booster.

Don't break a lug

Don't break a wheel stud on your Civic. It is a pain to fix. This is part one. Remove the knuckle, Next to Bob's shop to press the hub and bearings out and new stud and bearings back in. Then to put it all back together again. Thankfully I have a Genuine service manual for reference and torque specs. Yea, put that torque wrench to good use.
On a good note all the ball joints and CV joints look fine. Not bad for a 10 yr old car.

Almost back to normal

Joel got home from up nort' last night around 11:30 PM. Kiki missed him so much, she stayed up for him and gave him such a huge hug. Today we will see and hear what he did, maybe go through some pictures.

So summer can start. The fighting the boredom the irritation of dad. Should be good.

Stepped outside to get the paper today, it actually feels warm. We should hear from my folks on pops scan results.

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

Dad started his treatment this week. Full body scan was today, checking for additional hot spots in his bones and abdomen. I am feeling a bit apprehensive about this but better to know now than miss it later.

Joel has been up nort' since Saturday. Tubing and who knows what else. Funny not having him arond for a few days. Plus I had to scoop cat poop twice this week... he owes me.

New York Lunch

Business meeting yesterday. Into NYC for lunch and a meeting and home almost in time for dinner.

Fathers Day

Had a wonderful fathers day even if only 1 of my 2 kids were home to celebrate it.

Went to Pop's house for some family time and he looked good and sounded good too. This week kicks off more medical stuff for him, so I hope he keeps it up.

School is almost over

Well today is it, the last day of the school year for Kiki and Joel. Joel actually graduated 8th grade yesterday with High Honors 3.9-4.0 GPA. Pretty damn proud of him. He's off to Wisconsin Dells for a day at MT Olympus. Kind of sad but happy at the same time - he is moving on to high school. Not a little kid anymore.

Fun Tuesday?

Today ought to be interesting. I have to chapperone the 2nd grade field trip to the Milwaukee public Museums IMAX theatre. Last time I did this it was for Joel and I don't think it turned out all that well for him. Probably too old for me now.

It will be worse but better today. I know Kiki likes it, that makes me happy.

Now to make a bag lunch.

Prayers for Grandpa as he goes in for another biopsy today.

Monday night baseball

Famington Pony Win 19-2
Joel 1-4, A couple nice plays at 2nd and no pitching line tonight.

Farmington Midget C girls softball L 21-1.
6-7-8 year olds vs what I would guess to be a 9-10 year old team. Mackenzie went 2-2 and yours truly umped the best game ever according to Kiki. That was worth it right there.

60 Posts and counting

Well Since I started this Blog thingy I have made over 60 posts.

Not sure if that is good or bad....

Baseball tonight, home against beechwood for Joel and home against Fredonia for Mackenzie. Looks like I will be umpiring for the girls.

Nothing else new really. Dad goes in for the biopsy tomorrow. Then a plan of treatment. I wish we could get there already. This is stressful enough.

If they are not able to dry the field adequately I may transfer Filthy Hobo Ale to the secondary fermenter tonight.

Only 4 days of school left too....Now if only the weather would say summer like the calendar does.

baseball results

Farmington lost to Eden. The record stands at 2-3.

Joel went 0-1 1K
Pitching was good:
3 IP, 4H, 4 R, 2ER, 1 BB, 5K 1 HB

Rollercoaster

It's been a rollercoaster of emotions lately. Wednesday, Dad called me to say the tests were inconclusive and it did not look like lung cancer, maybe lymphoma. Not great but better than LC. Had a CT of his head done because of all the recent headaches. Yesterday Mom called me to say that they saw lesions which is cancer. Apparently it mestatized already. Feeling nothing but numb right now. He has an appointment with the radiologist in a few days for treatment discussions. He still has another biopsy to go through as well. Maybe I think the headaches were a minor blessing so that they were able to discover that right away. I don't know what to think.

Tuesday, June 3, 2008

Last night was baseball and softball night.

Joel's team lost 8-7... 1-3 at the plate
Mackenzie's team lost their first game too. Something to Something - no scoreboard person.

I will have Kiki's schedule out there today or so.

Nothing else to write about for now.....

June 1st

What a nice day. Woke up with a wicked headache. I like Pyramid's Apricot Ale but it does not like me.

Read the paper on the deck. threw a pork shoulder on the grill, did some grocery shopping and then did some easy yardwork. Ate dinner, took the pooch for a walk. Over a mile. Bailey was tired, but he made it.
Now it's bedtime.
