Pops 2nd treatment

Dad had his second chemo treatment this week, nothing too new to report. Just want to get all this past us and see him up and around again.

I have remodeling I need help with... hee hee. I'm sure he would rather be painting for Jenny too.

Kids

just got back from taking care of Jimmy H's pumas whilst he is away on vacation. I had kiki with me, She is growing up so fast. We were riding our bikes there and back. I told her I would race but just let her go, I giggled as I watch her take off, legs cranking head bobbing, little baby no more, hardly a little girl sometimes. Man I am getting old. Sniff sniff.

Dumb fun

Sighted in the air rifles yesterday. Then I decided to saw the board in half. Took less than 100 shots to get through 3/4 cedar from 45 feet away.

100 Posts?

Enjoyed a nice Saturday. Did a lot of things around the house and then had dinner on the deck. Started a fire and stayed out for some time. I think this is my 100th post. Good or bad. Going to visit Mom and Pop tomorrow.

Baseball is done

Well at least Pony Hardball is done.

They did lose the last game 9-11.

Thanks to everyone who came out to see a game.

Paper Wasps in my Paper Box

Damn things will build a nest anywhere. Ortho Wasp and hornet killer is not too good, this took a while to kill these - actually still wriggling 30 minutes later. Stick with Black Flag. Much more effective.

It's official. I still hate working for a living.

Baseball last night. Grandma and Papa made it for Joel's an Kiki's games. It was good to see him out. Happy to see him, sad to see him so tired and not able to talk too much. It will get better. Glen's still waiting with the apricot ale for him. :)

I hope to get some of his pictures that he took last night.

Vacation is over

Sunday and it sucks. Work is gonna be a pain in the ass tomorrow. Nothing worse than a week off to come back to a full inbox and who knows what else.

Grilled all day (pork shoulder, gourmet hamburgers from Sendiks) A few real 'ritas. I have a new lime/lemon juicer. It just squeezes them, much better than by hand. Kiki likes to do it as a strength exercise.

Hats off to Jenny for posting to my blog, that means at least 3 people have read it.

Jim has an xbox 360 now. This should be fun.

Back home, yard work to be done. bleah. Baseball makeup game for the Port Washington rain out. Joel's team won in a mercy rule 5 inning game 16 - 2.

Raining today, could be a lazy Saturday.

Jenny called me a dork for my vacation blog. Called it scrap booking for computer dorks. Yea OK, at least it's less messy than scrap booking and I am sure it's cheaper. What is scrap booking anyway? Seriously.

Garlic Harvest

Well we are back from our little road trip. The garlic was looking ready to harvest. So I did. Most is pretty good looking. The basement now smells like, well, garlic. Give these some drying time and they will be ready!

How long

How long do you have to be married to someone to think you know everything about them? Apparently 16 years is not enough, Still can't get it right/can't remember. This is the way I am, I haven't changed and neither will she. Get over it.

I do 90% more than the average spouse, it's still not enough. If I don't call you tomorrow, you already know why. Gotta stop, feeling mean spirited.

Road Trip

On my Road Trip with Joel, Check my other blog for entries,

Taylor - If your reading this I have some bathroom ratings for you, in Iowa, Nebraska and Colorado.

gearing up

Not much new to add. Dad went through the first Chemo treatment on Wednesday. I talked to him today. Sounds in good spirits and he had no negative side effects, always a plus.

Getting ready for the road trip with Joel. I am getting excited if nothing else.

Sure demise

Hey all you blog lovers out there. If it was not enough to have this one, I have created a brand new blog.

Road Trip Not to be confused with ROADTRIP the band

Keep it separate from the original blog. Joel and I will be blogging our trip next week as we traverse 7 states in 6 days. We decided to bring the bikes with us, hit some trails while in CO and SD. It should kill me for sure.

Played baseball last night, or rather Joel and Kiki did. Kiki lost to those man-children in Fredonia 29-3. Joel played in Port Washington and got into the 3rd inning before getting called due to lightning. Farmington was up 3-1.

If a blog is posted in the forest...

No one reads my blog and thats fine. It does what it does. Serves as some therapy for me on occasion. It could be the fact that I really don't tell too many people about it. Not that they would read it anyway.

I have got Joel up on the notion of blogging our trip next week as it happens. Kind of a travelouge, if you will. Maybe he won't make so much fun of it when he does it.

Anyway, the reason for this post, is to bring to light two other Turk blogs. No not mine. Taylor, my niece and Goddaughter, has a very creative head on her shoulders. We need to do more together, corrupt her a little behind my brothers back. Although I think she is doing fine on her own :D.

She has two blogs of her own. I will give some cred to on my blog (HA). Will it make a difference in our combined traffic? it should at least double it. I read her's and vice versa.

Bathroom Ratings

and

The Turk Family

I got to get guest blogger privleges on Bathroom Ratings. My trip to NY alone could fill pages.

Keep up the good work Taylor.

The real Fourth of July

The Fourth came and went. Kiki went to Gma and Gpas house to hang out with Jayden to do parades and more fireworks (not lakeworks firefronts though).

Tracy, JT, Travis and I went to Summerfest for the Stone Temple Pilots show.

The JournalSentinal pretty much hit the show on the head.

It started kind of slow, with Weiland looking like Blondie (Eastwood) from the 1966 classic The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Lots of unintelligible mumbling between songs that probably did not make much sense even if we could hear it. With no new album it was all the hits. The encore was enjoyable, two navy service men brought on stage an got to rock (and sing) with them to 'dead and bloated', very cool.
A funny side note, we sat amongst people smoking cigs. Tracy, always vocal on her displeasure, said she would rather get high (from the girl who has never). Well 3 songs into the set and she got her wish, The row directly in front and behind began tokin'. I told her they should be passing that your way pretty soon. Careful what you wish for. It made for good laughs, or was the laughs from second hand smoke...
We also watched The Invaders and Big D and the Kids Table. SKA night at the Harley stage. Nice.
Tracy wanted me to talk about the drama I added by having to stop at Bayshore for a new pair of shades, since I cannot locate my old non-prescription ones. New contacts require good eye protection. Do they not? Whiner? yea, this time.

Fourth, er, Third O July

We did the Lakeworks Firefront (another brilliant mistake I will run with) thing last night. Wasn't too sure it would happen this year with all that has happened with Dad's health in the last few months. They are the catalysts to the whole thing, by going down early, squatting on a parcel of lakefront property and holding court until the rest of the clan filters down.

But Dad being stubborn got a close spot, dragged all the stuff down and we had a wonderful nite, even though the temps dipped to low 60's or less.

So here we are. Eating, talking, playing games looking for open coffee shops. That's another rant for another time.

New York, again

You know, I started this blog with a trip to NYC. This is the third NYC post this year. At least this time was more than lunch.

Got to have dinner and drinks with some good people.

Dinner was awesome. Could be that it was almost 9:00 pm by the time I ate. http://www.restonyc.com/

Beef Cheeks, Yea sounds wrong, but think of the best pot roast and juices on top of a bed of frites. (french fries) I would go back for that. Then there is the beer. started with a delerium tremens, went to a delerium nocturnum then a de koninck and finally a affligem blonde. Yea 4 beers for dinner, but my buddy Ben and I were not done yet. Off to www.bxlcafe.com for some more Belgians. Curvee XL draft and Rodenbach Grand Cru. Grand Cru is ok but I could not drink a lot of it, sour type beer.

A few cab rides, subway rides, meetings, fly home and in bed by midnight.

Actually I am not done with the story. Joel was watching the house but got a migraine and threw up. The funny thing is getting off the plane and checking my voice mail asking me how to run the carpet cleaner. Ha - oh boy...

Lots to catch up on III

Sunday - more crap weather. Went to Tony and Mary Sue's reception. Good to see the other side of the family once every 5 years. Really sad. It's not like everyone is out of state. Hell my cousin Steve lives 4 miles away...

Dad was looking ok. He's doing what he can to enjoy life even more than he did before. I get sad thinking about the reason why. We should always live like you don't know what the next day will bring.

Lots to catch up on II

Saturday - Well the weather sort of cooperated. Sun, Rain, Sun, rain then clear and cold.

Filthy Hobo Belgian Pale ale went over pretty good. Not a huge number of beer drinkers at JT's graduation party so I still have 1/2 a keg left.

Food was a hit, that's for sure. It's amazing how many people enjoy a simple grill out. Of course getting the good stuff never hurts. Gloriosos made Italians sausages are just the ticket.
Jim and crew were a no show - surprise. Dad said its the dog, Jesus how old do the kid have to be before the are not afraid of dogs, that's weak sauce.
Congrats to Joel..... That's what matters

Lots to catch up on

This will be a flurry of blog activity..

Friday nite - played baseball to a 8-8 tie. Yea no lights in c-Sport so darkness prevails. Not fun, Joel went 1-3 with 3 RBI but had a off night pitching....gave up 4 runs in 2 1/3 innings.

Ran home and finished up with the house stuff for Saturdays party. Otherwise not much else to say about Friday.
