4 time zones in 3 days

After getting back from Arizona late Friday night, I had to head to New York on Monday.  That's basically PST to EST.  or 4 time zones and 3 hours.

So I had some time the night I got into NYC and had Mets tickets.  Rode the E and 7 trains to Willets point where I was completely floored to find out that it is also the same stop as the US Open!  Wish I had Open tickets instead, but I doubt they were the same $10 as I paid for the baseball tickets.

Start to another year

I write this from poolside at the resort in Arizona.   It's a bit warm. 99 or so.  This is a nice resort. Right at the base of the mountains. Yesterday we dropped the girls off to shop and Joel and I played another 9 holes of golf. Club rentals are included with our room so it was only $15 to play and that included a cart. Really beautiful course.

 But enough about me (humblebrag).

We moved Joel into his apartment this morning. Met 2 of his 3 roommates. Seem pretty nice. We still have a few things to do before we leave him again tomorrow for good.

Not sure where this summer went. Again its a mix of emotions. Happy for him but a little sad as he gets that much closer to leaving the nest for good...

I tell you what. The apartment may be cheaper than the dorm but there is quite a bit to buy to get ready for this type of living. Extra stuff you don't think about:  kitchen items, cleaning supplies, etc.
Oh and because he is a bit further off campus we got him a bike too. Really got a sweet deal on that. I debated getting a cheapo Walmart bike for 160.00.  But we got a much nicer one, lighter, better fitting and with much better warrant for only  about $100 more. The bike store had a leftover clearance bike that would only fit some one Joel's size or bigger. Half off.  I was a bit jealous.

We finished off the day with some swimming and pizza. I will have pictures and videos up soon. We had free reign of the water slide so we broke some rules.

Dirty Girls

Tracy and few friends all hit the Dirty Girl mud run on Saturday.  Looks like they had a good time?

What do you think?

Looked like fun to me.

Hopping good time

Well the fruits of my labor are coming to Fruit-ition.  (bad pun).

The garden is starting to really produce.  Radishes are long gone, but the tomatoes are staring to ripen and there are so many that my cages can't keep them upright.  The cucumbers are steady and Indian corn is showing ears.  The hops, well I think they are a success!  At least so far.

I already picked a batch and dried them.

All those hops dried overnight in an old dehydrator I have net me 3/8 of one once.  Yes, not even a half an ounce.  Oh well I figure I have a bit more to pick before the end of the season.  Hoping to get at least one ounce of each variety (of which I have two).

Bonding time

With Joel headed back to school in less than a week, we had a little bonding time by shooting 18 holes of golf at Washington Country Gold Course.

6:30 AM tee time.  It was below 50, it was wet, the sun was barely out.  But once you got going it wasn't bad.

I shot an awesome 50 over par and Joel about 30 over.  I guess you don't get better  by going golfing once a year.  That's OK we did not expect to shoot under 100 anyway.  Some of the good things,  I went 7 holes on the same ball, Joel went 14.  That is amazing.  I did end up losing quite a few more after that.  Joel only went through 4.  I had a 171 yd tee shot that landed about 6 feet from the pin.

We finished up around 10 and went to Perk Place for brunch.

August Weekend #2

Well the second weekend of August is here and gone, another Great Taste of the Midwest in the books.  This is Tracy and my 5th one in a row.  Weather was great and we were able to score tickets at the last minutes, since I was unable to sleep in line last May for them.  Next weekend is a Dirty Girl for Tracy and after that we take Joel back to Arizona.

Of Fairs and Horses

Another week and another week of Horse camp in the book.  Mom is a saint, taking the three girls and others all week and letting them do something they so enjoy.

Friday we got to see the skills the learned.  I have a lot of video, but this sums it up nicely

Saturday Tracy, Mackenzie, Taylor and myself went to the state fair.  Animals, Check.  Rides, Check. Food, Check.  Long day?  You bet.

Next few weeks are no let up in the amount of activity for sure.

Oh yea other than that 2 cup test I had last month, i am still for the most part caffeine free.  7 months now.
