Basketball is over

Well with a tear in my eye I have to say that the season is over. The last home game was played last night. A heartbreak of a loss to New Holstein 45-46. Well played game. Joel went 0-1 FG and 1-2 from the free throw line.

So the end is a 7 and 11 season. So many close losses they could be 11 and 7. Oh well it was fun and there is always next year to improve.

After the game we went to the Pike Lake House Inn with the Schroeders. Waited for a table for 30-40 minutes. Sat down ordered the fish fry to find out that it's all gone! The waitress looked at us and asked 'no one told you?" Uh no. Do you think we would have stood around waiting for table if they had told us that? So we left and had the fish fry at MJ Stevens. Not bad, felt a little second class when we asked what was in the seafood chowder and got 'various fish items'. Nice. if I was the cook and I heard that I would just cringe. Then there was the 'well thats what you get when you get here at the tail end of the night'. I'm sorry it says you serve food until 11. it's only a bit after 9. Two hours before the end of service is the 'tail end'. We got a loaf of bread with the dinner cause the rye bread was gone. It smelled like it was on the wrong end of the expiration date. Musty, yeasty (not good yeasty either).

Seems like 2009 has been just as shitty as 2008 so far. Time to log off and so get my MRI.

Peace out
-Jeff

Food and Froth review

It's just flying by. This month is almost over.

Joel has one more game - a home game on Friday. 6:00.

Girl Scout cookie pickup today too.

We did the Food and Froth Party at the Milwaukee Public Museum on Saturday. Here is my review:

The good: It was at the muesum. It's always cool to see a building being used for other purposes than what you're used to seeing. Cool to walk through the exhibits with a beer.

The bad: Really crowded. Too many lines. The list of vendors was large but I don't think they all showed up. Wisconsin based show so it was the same beers I usually have.

The ugly: The first word in the title is Food. Where's the beef? A dixie cup of white chili and some sausage and crackers from Usingers is about all there was. Oh and Breadsmith.

All in all it was nice, but for the price (I know, charitable donations yada-yada) it was a bit of a disappointment.

POST 200!

Well it's not even a year since I started blogging. I already have 200 posts. So it's about every other day I post. Not too bad.

Thanks to all who read and occasionally comment.

SnowySaturday

Well winter is back today. This should make driving downtown tonight a blast. Don't think we will go to the auto show today. Hopefully it will lighten up for the Food and Froth at the museum tonight.

Although this may line up for a nice day for snowboarding tomorrow. Hopefully my shoulder/arm will be up for it.

I do have an MRI scheduled for NEXT Saturday. What a bunch of bullshit. This is taking too long to get better. I really don't like doctors. Everyone has their own opinion. Go to more than one and now you're getting nothing done.

I think I will go play xbox for a while. That doesn't hurt and takes my mind off the numbness.

Well Parents Night was nice. Kind of cool to take that walk to mid court. Very Proud.

Freshman and Varsity both won.

Joel had an ok game. 0 pts

Parents Night

I encourage anyone to come to this almost last home game. Joel plays at 6:00 in the Elementary school gym. Followed by the Varsity game in the High School gym.

At halftime of the Varsity game, all the Freshmen parents will be introduced and thanked for their efforts in supporting their sons. Believe me there is a lot of effort. Mostly chauffeuring, but its worth it.

Presidents day, a nice easy day.

The kids and I went snowboarding last night. Kiki is getting better and better. So is Joel and I. We got to plan a road trip for Cascade or Granite Peak. Hard to say it but the season will be winding down. Only about 1 month left to get out there.

Anybody seen any dresser designs? I need to come up with a simple dresser for the upcoming addition to the Quandt family. It's only fair. Just don't tell my wife. She's been wanting a dresser for about 15 years. I just can't find the right one. :D

Peace out.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentines Day to all 5 readers.

Last night was a looong night for us. Took the 1 hr + drive to Two rivers for the basketball game. Which they lost, by 16. It was not a good night. Two rivers played really well and, well K-Town did not. Joel was 0-2.

We did not stick around for the Varsity game, but went for some dinner. Ended up at the Courthouse Pub in Manitowoc. Got the exact same seat we did when we were there for New Years Eve. Dinner was pretty good. Nice perch, pan fried etc. We were still eating when we got the message that Joel was on the bus and was header for home. We chowed down, packed up and headed out to make sure we beat him home. The snow made it a bit slower going but we still made it back right on time. Did not get home until around 11:30. That was a lot of driving.

Kiki's got a sleepover tonight. Yea.

Have fun everyone...

Friday

Plan your weekend accordingly. It's Friday the 13th and the day before Valentine's day. So what does that mean? I don't know. Both days have to do with luck. Unlucky vs. getting. Either way I'm sure I will irritate someone by Monday.

Anyway. Friday night hoops, in Two rivers. That's right, Manitowoc. So hey, load up the car or truck, pack some supplies and put TwoRivers HS in your GPS. Freshman play at 6:00PM.

It's Hump Day

Did you get out and enjoy some of that weather the last few days? I broke out the shorts. More back to earth the next few days. It was a nice taste of spring. However it means we have to do more boarding this year before it's all gone.

Joel had an away game last night at Kiel. All 3 teams lost, Joel had 8 pts. He is draggin ass this morning. Those long distance away games are tough. ( I know, I have to go get him from school when they get back).

I handed the coaches a bunch of coaching books and guides on Monday, I felt funny at first. Like I was telling them they did not know how to coach. I had to preface it with the fact I get that from my good friend Mike. That's what he does for a living. He's the Managing editor of Winning Hoops

Sunday Nite Snowboarding

What do you do when it's 35 degrees out and everyone is bored? Grab you Board! I got Kiki her own gear on Friday. So we need to get her out on the hill! Besides Joel has only been out once as well.

We got the afternoon seesion at 4:00pm. Perfect temp, sun going down, near full moon. And Kiki ready to leave after the first run down. Being here before with Joel, I know better. So I go down heel-side with her. What do you know. 3 hours later everyone is shredding it. Well almost. But a fun night all together.

Ktown put it to Sheboygan falls 45-30.

guess what?

It only seems like I blog when there is a basketball game. And lo and behold there is another home game tonight for the K-Town Teams.

Other than that, it's been a quiet week. My shoulder seems to be getting better. I think Mackenzie is over her recent bout of illness and well...not to much else going on.

Basketball

K-Town lost another game to Howards Grove 48-53. Not a very good shooting night for the whole team. Need to have a road game too much home cooking!

Joel went 2-6 with 4 pts.

Monday

Yea its Monday - back to work. Steelers won the SuperBowl. My shoulder still hurts. I think my brother left Saturday with all his kids and nobody was eaten.

Did my chiropractic visit today. Now Joel has a game at 6 and then I need to change the plugs on the Subaru. Got a check engine light - 4th cylinder mis-fire. The plugs are almost 100K miles old.

All my beer is gone. Easy come easy go.

Later.
