My Sad face is on today.

Most local ski hills are closed or closing for the season this weekend.  Alas, I have to much going on to get to them.

All that snow this year and I got out one time.  ONE TIME.  Ugh, and I was so ready to take my game to the next level.  The parks and jumps.  Sorry Mom, it's true.  I did a little the one time I was out, but Mackenzie was having a rough day so I did a lot of spending time with her getting her confidence back.

So it's time to put all the stuff away.  So sad as my board would stand at the ready hoping to see some some action, only to be ignored.  It become a piece of artwork in my office until next year.  Unless someone wants to fly me to Colorado before the end of the month.

Almost 3 years ago I started this blog.  A mental exercise if nothing else.

What is interesting? is my second item was while in NYC.  Well tomorrow (almost 3 yrs ago) I am heading back to the big apple.  That means Friday should have some freak weather and I won't get home until Sunday!

Sorry

Its all over but the crying

Sunday wrapped up the long basketball season for this year.

Kiki had a league tournament in Mayville and they won one game and lost 2.  Not a great year for them but Mackenzie really seemed to enjoy herself and will be playing more.  She had 2 points in each of the 3 game they played.

I have a feeling I will be doing more coaching next year.  At Mayville a few of the girls asked if I would help coach the final game.  I sat in the stands the first 2, because the other guys had it under control.  It was nice to hear and so I did.

Between Kiki and Joel, I think Tracy and I watched close to 40 games.  I know we drove a lot of miles. But I enjoyed myself.

Honestly, I can't wait until next year.

Basketball for the K-Town Varsity boys team is over.

A season that started with a bang, ended with a whimper.   Start 7-3 and end 4-10.  Ouch.  A season so close on many levels.  Too many close losses, blown 4th quarter leads and in the end a 16 point loss in the state sectional.

Joel is glad it's over.  I don't blame him.  His playing time dropped to nothing as the rotation shrunk to almost nothing. Surprisingly the same time the losses started mounting.  It's frustrating to watch.  Not only from a parent standpoint but as a team.

I really don't like to point out bad coaching, because I have been there, being called out by parents for my decisions.  But there were so many instances of questionable plays, lack of plays, strategy, substitution and time management.  In every game.  Yet nothing changed from week to week as the losses mounted.

Congrats to the boys for winning more games this season than the last 4 seasons combined. Hopefully next year it's even better.

250,000

Seems like a lot of car blogging lately.  Well the Scooby hit 250,000 miles on Thursday.

So I went through my logs, to get to a quarter of a million miles:

  • Almost 86 miles a day since we bought it not quite 8 years ago on 3/7/2003
  • 9842 Gallons of Gas
  • $24,228.00 for that gas (we bought car with tax for $25,630)
  • $2.46 Average price per gallon
  • 34 oil changes.  (Which is around 7000 miles each one.  Since this is all highway and I use synthetic oil its still under the recommended 7500 per change)
  • On the 4th set of tires
  • 4 brake jobs
  • On the 3rd windshield.
  • 1 dead deer
  • $587 in state registration fees (we do have special plates for extra $25.00 the last few years)
  • $8400 in all the maintenance and parts.  Tires, oil, brakes, filters, windshields, belts, plugs, other break fixes (wheel bearings) and required maintenance (timing belts etc)

All this tells me that to this day the car costs us $20.35 a day since we bought it.  Something to think about when getting a car and thinking the payment is all it really costs.

Sorry folks it's been a slow blog lately.  Lots of things, just not a lot of time.

Look for some updates soon.
