So I went through my logs, to get to a quarter of a million miles:
- Almost 86 miles a day since we bought it not quite 8 years ago on 3/7/2003
- 9842 Gallons of Gas
- $24,228.00 for that gas (we bought car with tax for $25,630)
- $2.46 Average price per gallon
- 34 oil changes. (Which is around 7000 miles each one. Since this is all highway and I use synthetic oil its still under the recommended 7500 per change)
- On the 4th set of tires
- 4 brake jobs
- On the 3rd windshield.
- 1 dead deer
- $587 in state registration fees (we do have special plates for extra $25.00 the last few years)
- $8400 in all the maintenance and parts. Tires, oil, brakes, filters, windshields, belts, plugs, other break fixes (wheel bearings) and required maintenance (timing belts etc)
All this tells me that to this day the car costs us $20.35 a day since we bought it. Something to think about when getting a car and thinking the payment is all it really costs.
Dad would have loved all those stats! Something he would have done.
