Not so good Friday

It's with some sadness in my heart that I make this post. Today is the day Bailey got to play with just sister again in the big dog park in the sky. Alli had a great run. Almost 17 years old. Brings back tons of memories. Some of the best dogs I even knew.

50 days

Been 50 days without coffee or caffeine.  Do I feel better?  I don't feel any different, I sleep the same, work the same and perhaps even act the same  :D

Coincidentally the JournalSentinel has and article today on caffeine.

$30,000.00

I was just looking over the records I keep for my cars, figuring if they were due for maintenance this spring and I just realized that the Forester, bought in February 2003 is now 10 years old.  It also has over 290,000 miles on it.   I also noticed we just eclipsed $30,000.00 in gas put into that vehicle.  That's almost $5,000 more than we paid for the car (including loan)!  That's 11,440 gallons of gas.  More than a tanker truck holds.   Or an average of $2.63 a gallon.  Over 25 miles per gallon. Not sure how I feel about that.  That's a lot of money, $3000 a year or $250.00 a month on average.

And we are not done with the car yet.  We gotta at least get it to 300,000 miles.  That should happen in September or October this year.

Anniversaries

Yesterday, Tracy, Mackenzie and I went to Madison for Tracy's annual transplant check up.  Everything checked out well and hard to believe but this marks the 15th year.  Yes I missed blogging the actual date of January 27th this year, but not to be forgotten as it is quite an accomplishment.  Congrats to Tracy and the UW Hospitals team.

Oh yea, today is also officially 5th year I began this little blog.  600+ posts not bad.  Not transplant good, but good for me.

Does daylight savings time feel like you just flew to Japan.  Does for me.  I swear this entire week is like serious jet lag.  It seems way too early.  I look outside and think its 5:00 but it's much later.  Oh well.

Remember last week and I said I was done with Basketball, well almost.  Now I am really done.  We had the banquet, then the 60 minutes of full court hoops: Coaches vs Coaches game and then hey whats another 2 hours of full court the next day in Parents vs Kids.  I think my sweet spot for basketball competition is somewhere between 6 foot and taller reasonably athletic (and some that played college ball) coaches and me being able to dominate a bunch of 12 year olds.

Hey that slacker blogger son of mine.  Yes the one in Arizona.  He's on spring break this week.  I know, I can't believe it.  That means next week is the start of the final push of his first year.  We are talking 6 more weeks of school for him.  That means in 6 weeks I and maybe some family (if they want to join me) will road trip down and pick him up.  We may have to also look for apartments as he is not going back to the dorms next year.  Any takers on a 3800 mile round trip road trip with me?  Maybe we will see Tombstone AZ  (Wyatt Earp), Possibly Roswell, NM (aliens! and I don't mean Mexicans).  Take a wrong turn in Albuquerque, Oklahoma city (Murrah memorial) and perhaps the St Louis arch.

Basketball

Will I do it next year?  I don't know, probably not.  As much as I enjoyed it, it was tough at times getting to early Saturday away games and late Sunday practices, especially with no kids on the team.

My second year as coach assistant coach of KYB basketball 6th grade girl hoops came to an end today.  I had to solo coach the tournament in Fon du Lac.

We won the first game against a team that beat us pretty good in the season, the next two games went in the loss column and we basically settled for 4th out of 8.

My lips are dry, my voice is hoarse and I am physically and emotionally drained, probably more than any of my team.
