Kentucky

This to week was a busy one.  Wednesday afternoon I had to grab a flight to Dayton.  Yea Ohio.  Thursday meeting (maybe) and a Friday meeting in Cincinnati.

Never been to Dayton before this.  It's a older town, the birth place of the Wright Brothers.  The hotel was kinda dumpy and the neighborhoods were an odd mix of sketchy and retro chic.  Like not sure which way they wanted to go.  I walked about a mile to a highly rated pizza place.  SouthPark Tavern.  Pizza was good.  Different crust, like a hand tossed Domino's but not at all tasting like that cardboard.  Bonus.  18 tap beers from all over.  Tap board shaped like a guitar.  Ate way too much and walked back to the hotel.

Thursday was a light day for work, I drove from Dayton to Covington KY.  Yes, Kentucky is on the other side of the Ohio river and its also where Cincinnati's Airport is located.  Anyway my Thursday meeting did not happen which pissed me off a bit but it gave me some more time in the afternoon.  I found a cool little place for lunch. Steak sliders and a waffle cone canolli.
After 5 I had some time to kill before I picked up a co-worker at the airport. So I did a little trail running, hiking and throw in a geocache or two.

Finally, I picked up Greg around 7:00 and we went to dinner.  KungFood Chu's Amerasia.  Yep a Chinese restaurant with Kung fu movies playing over the bar.  That and they also had an incredible beer list.  Not your average Asian restaurant.  Excellent food to end the day.

If you care, Friday sucked, long day, meetings, driving, airports, layovers, more airports, airport food driving, rain etc all to get home at 11:30 PM

Fathers day

Yea I am a little late on this.  Last Sunday was fathers day, I had breakfast that I did not cook and relaxed.  Well at until about 9:30 am.   That's when we had to take Mackenzie to basketball camp.

This camp is not a day camp but a 2 night camp.  Over night, at Concordia College.  So we get there and her is the catch.  No one from her school or team signed up, so she had no dorm mate or familiar people to hang out with.  Without a doubt, a tough situation for her.

So it wasn't without some drama that we were trying to get a dorm mate for her.  The camp director sat with us and told stories and worked hard to get room mates.  Finally we got her with a few girls and off we went. Tears gone but that leery look in her eye we left.

A fathers day moment to say the least, watching your kids and all the growing up they do.

The camp was pretty intense.  Basically basketball all from 9 AM to 9 PM.  Needless to say she was beat and had some sore blistered feet. Will she do it again?  We will see.  She made some new friends too.  Proud Dad.

Got home and I started cooking.  Ribs for Fathers Day Dinner.  Yea that sounds good.  That and some beautiful weather.

So its almost summer right?

Some of this rain is good for the plants anyway.  Look at these hops take off.  Already taller than I am.

Tomato plants have flowers too.

Being the Horrible parent I am, I forgot to talk about Mackenzies Piano recital last Sunday.  She is getting pretty good at this piano thing.  She just completed her 6th lesson book.

Enjoy!

Today is day 120 or 4 months without caffeine (measurable).

What does it prove?  Healthwise, I don't see much.  It's not like smoking or overeating all the time.  I don't have any caffeine sensitivities so the point is?  Not sure what the point is.  I guess to prove that I could do it.  Now to put that effort into some physical fitness. Try to get days in a row of actual effort in.

Hey but if the weather ever stays nice at least we can enjoy it on the deck and our new patio table.  That I built.  I present table-zilla.  Started this on Memorial weekend and between the rain finished yesterday.  Well its not completly finished.  I have the footrest/trestle portion to attach and then stain the wood.  Can't do that for a few more weeks until some of the pressure treated lumber loses some green and moisture.
